The Maison Martin Margiela capsule collection for Opening Ceremony was unveiled on Sunday, and as they're two of my favorites I was excited to see the result of the collaboration. Margiela reinterpreted its core concept of 'recuperation, transformation and reinterpretation' into a group of 20 styles, which can be transformed into a range of separately wearable garments - there's a jacket with a detachable lining (wearable individually or as a pair), trousers with interchangeable tops, boots in two parts, bags within bags...like a textile version of Meccano. It's impressive how Opening Ceremony continues to push the envelope by collaborating with really progressive designers to make these concepts accessible to a wider retail audience - it'll be launching globally in September 2011 at Opening Ceremony retail locations and select Maison Martin Margiela partners worldwide.
