VENA CAVA FOR GAP

Get excited for the Vena Cava designs to be unveiled at Gap tomorrow...the sneak peeks look gorgeous!

It looks like both companies have done an excellent job of taking something signature (Vena Cava's ethnic-inspired, graphic prints; Gap's classic khaki) and combining them in a way that makes sense. Often, with similar pairings, the designer isn't able to translate their aesthetic in a way that takes advantage of the strengths of the brand they're collaborating with - they end up using low-quality materials or construction in order to make the clothes affordable, and the result is just a cheap imitation of the designer originals rather than a true collaboration.

COUTURE TUTU

Karl Lagerfeld has designed a gorgeous costume for Elena Glurdjidze, who performs The Dying Swan as part of the City of London Festival in June.

As a bonus, the article includes another great quote from Karl: "Swans, they are the meanest animals in the world, you know. I had problems with them as a child. They hate children. I was caught by one, so I know. The idea of swans is lovely, and they have a beautiful shape, but they seem more romantic than they in fact are. I don't think really they die like this. They just drop dead, hmm? But who wants to see that?"
